Adeolu Ogunnubi, fondly known as "PapaDee," was born on April 5, 1975, in Lagos, Nigeria, specifically in the Shomolu area. He is the second of five children born to Olotu E.A. and Chief Mrs. A.A. Ogunnubi. His siblings include Mr. Yinka Ogunnubi (fondly called Bishop), Gboyega Ogunnubi (MD), Deji Ogunnubi, and his only sister, Mrs. Adepeju Dinyo.
Education and Early Years
PapaDee began his education at Subuola Nursery School, Festac (1978–1981), before attending 3rd Avenue Primary School, Festac Town (1980–1986). He proceeded to the Nigerian Navy Secondary School, where he completed his secondary education between 1986 and 1992. His academic journey continued at the prestigious University of Lagos, where he earned a Bachelor of Science (BSc Hons) in Fisheries in 1998, Master Degree MBA (Human Resources) at UNAD 2008/2009.
Spiritual Journey and Leadership
PapaDee’s journey of faith began at an early age. On December 30, 1985, he gave his heart to the Lord in the sitting room of his spiritual father, Dr. Femi Oyedele, a long time childhood family friend, with his parents ( Olotu E.A Chief Mrs A.A Ogunnubi and Olotu M.O & Mrs.C Oyedele) now residing in Canada. Under the mentorship of Dr. Oyedele—alongside spiritual guides such as Bishop, Obuko Uwanogho, and Dayo Olulana—PapaDee grew rapidly in faith and leadership, taking on key responsibilities from his secondary school days.
Parish Youth Chapel Days
During his time at the Nigerian Navy Secondary School, he played a pivotal role in establishing the school fellowship alongside close friends such as Ekene Diru, Adam Okoye, Folarin Mann, Peter the Rock, Niyi Alonge, Mrs. Funmi Olaogun, Lash Abiodun, and Ayoolu Oni. He was also a mentor and "School father" to many younger students.
Following his secondary school graduation, PapaDee developed a deep commitment to the doctrine of Christ and His righteousness. He became actively involved in the Teenage Sunday Class, led by the late Mrs. Leah Ojinna, which later paved the way for his appointment as the second Parish Youth Coordinator (1993–1995) at just 18 years old.
His dedication to youth ministry has spanned over four decades, impacting multiple generations of young people through his work with the Parish Youth Church and the Teens Chapel (COP).
During this period, he and his fellow Navy brethren founded the Navy Ex-Students Fellowship (NEF) under the leadership of its first president, Ekene Diru.
Higher Leadership and Ministry Contributions
PapaDee’s leadership journey continued at university, where he became an executive of the LVCU Reunion in 1996, serving as Chief Editor and Principal of the School of Discipleship (Glory Tenure) under Pastor Bayo Awoleri. It was during his final years in LVCU that he built strong covenant relationships with key ministry partners, now known as the Covenant Partners (CP), including Pastor Bayo Awoleri, Pastor Jude Ujomu, Prof. Abiye Alamina, and Martins Itua.
During his National Youth Service in Abia State, PapaDee was actively involved in the Nigerian Christian Corps' Fellowship (NCCF), where he built lasting covenant friendships.
His association with the non-denominational ex-students Christian association, FECA, began in 1992 in Festac. He served as President of FECA Nigeria (1992–1993) and later became the 2nd Zonal Coordinator of Lagos Zone (1995–1998), following in the footsteps of his mentor, Barr—Cyprian Amgbah, based in the UK. From 1998 to 2000, he became the 3rd National President of FECA Nigeria.
PapaDee also played a pioneering role in establishing the FECA Forum of Senior Members (FECAFOSM), leading it for five years. He later served on the Board of Trustees of FECA for another five years and has remained an active figure in the organization, speaking at numerous national and regional conventions. For nearly a decade, he has held the position of FECAFOSM Lagos Representative.
Family Life
In 1999, PapaDee met his heartthrob and "jewel of inestimable price," Oreofe (née Olunissi). They got engaged on December 12, 1999, and were joyfully united in marriage on April 17, 2004.
